1991 Airstream 300 LE Classic Motorhome
The Airstream 300 LE model is a rare Classic Airstream motorhome. They were built only two model years ('83 and
'91/'92) and research shows that there were less than 30
ever built, probably less than 20. This one is nearly all
original with only 3 owners and all the original records! The
front drivers and passengers seats swivel and are electrically
operated. It has a great interior layout with the side twin
beds, panoramic rear windows, and long hallway; you don't
have to disturb your partner to use the bathroom. It has a
single rear axle so it's easy to drive and turn around on
smaller back roads, plus its size (30 feet) allows easy access
to state and national parks. It has a great kitchen layout with
twin stainless steel sinks, Corian counter top,
microwave/convention oven, 4 burner stove, hood with fan
and light, and 3-way refrigerator/freezer that features solid
oak fronts that match the all solid Oak wood cabinetry - they
don't make them like this anymore! Towards the front of the
coach on the curbside are two swivel & locking chairs (with
seatbelts) and a fold away table with an extension leaf that
allows guests to join dining while seated on the sofa. The
sofa also converts to a double bed. The spacious bathroom
on the driver's side has a Corian countertop and toilet.
Across from the bathroom is a separate shower. It has all
Moen faucets and other quality components throughout. It is
no wonder that when it was first introduced, the Airstream
Classic motorhome cost nearly double the cost of a similar
Winnebago. For comfortable dry camping, it has a 6.5 kW
Onan generator and plenty of storage. It is complete with
both water and electric power cord reels. I strived to keep
this motorhome as original as possible and all service and
repairs were done with this in mind.
When I purchased it four years ago before driving across
country I had it professionally gone through from top to
bottom for all the mechanical and engine specifications and
replaced such items as the distributor cap, rotor, plugs,
wires, air suspension, hoses, belts, fuel pump, filters,
thermostat and any part that was not up to specification.
The original owner also added front stabilizers and a Banks
Powerpack upgrade. After crossing the country, I also
replaced all tires, batteries, fan clutch and had the radiator
completely rebuilt. The generator was serviced as per Onan
specifications just 2 months ago. There are numerous spare
parts included with the coach.
The engine, batteries, tires, and all mechanical and
appliances are in good working order.
Exterior has been stripped, and polished and always gets
"thumbs up" when driving. The driver's seat could use new
upholstery, and there are a few cosmetic blemishes. It is in
great shape considering it is 26 years old.
