1955 Flxible VistaLiner Bus Conversion
Wonderful 1955 Flxible VL-100 VistaLiner. This is such a great bus. Same model that Elvis used for his tour bus. It
has manual transmission and no power steering.
This was an Interstate bus converted some years back.
It is powered by a ferocious Detroit Diesel 6-71 inline 2 cycle--the original "screaming Jimmy." The motor runs
flawlessly. It starts immediately and doesn't hesitate at all. It makes air immediately. I had a major service on it
last spring and the mechanic tells me that the motor and tranny look to be in great shape. The transmission is a 4
speed Spicer manual. Air brakes were gone through last year as well. It starts, stops, points and drives like it's
supposed to. The conversion is nicely done,
with really cool blond woodwork throughout. It has 80 gallon fresh/100 gallon black water tanks. 2 rooftop air
conditioners, although the one in back needs to be replaced. Newer Honda 4K water cooled generator (gasoline) that
works great. Heat is by
propane furnace in the front. 2-20 gallon propane tanks in the belly. Windscreens were replaced about 3 years ago.
Newer radial tires, with great tread all around. Massive amounts of storage in the belly underneath the bus. Has
50 amp shore hookup and separate house/coach batteries with a charger. No inverter; I just switch the fuse box
from shore to the generator when I need 110 power or to run the a/c units.
