1963 Airstream Overlander 26' Center Twins I am the second owner of this unit and purchased it from the original owner in October 2000. I then spent several hundred hours and several thousand dollars performing a complete restoration both inside and out on my trailer. I am currently in the process of re polishing the exterior using Nuvite polish, and as the pictures show, it looks great. During my restoration I refurbished all light fixtures, sinks, bath tub, cabinetry, ect that originally came with the trailer. I did replace the old water tank with a new 40 gal poly tank, and installed a new 6 gallon propane hot water heater. I also added a gray water tank with it's own separate pump. All the bathroom plumbing was replaced with new schedule 80 gray PVC pipe and a new dump valve was added to the black water tank. I hired a professional upholstery shop to rebuild the cushions with new foam, and all fabric on the beds, side walls over the twin bunks, and the front couch was replaced. Also a professional cabinet shop made new counter tops for all surfaces plus the 3 leaf table top, and covered them with new laminate. All window screens were replaced with new bright aluminum metal screen and all windows and vents are in excellent working condition. The screen " door within-a-door " is absolutely beautiful. I have it polished and shining like a mirror. All original outside lights are in proper working order, there are 2 new 30# aluminum propane tanks with a new auto change over regulator, and the electric brakes and wheel bearings were checked out by an RV dealer about 3000 miles ago. I short my trailer is completely restored both inside and out and in my opinion is, on a one to ten scale, probably a 9. Archived 3/6/2006 |
