1966 Clark Cortez Motorhome
Currently in non-operational status with California DMV.
This smog exempt 1966 Cortez has the 225 dodge slant 6 cylinder engine and manual 4 speed transmission for optimum
fuel economy. This RV is front wheel drive. It has a toilet and sink/shower.Has a a 3 burner stove with oven. A 2nd
sink is next to the stove oven. There is a heavy duty a/c installed on the roof. This a/c is factory, and not all
Cortezes have them. This RV was over $25,000 new in 1966. Only the very rich had them. They were also used by NASA,
before they switched to Airstream Motorhomes.
This Cortez was running before it was put in storage. The master brake cylinder was leaking, so it has been
removed to have it repaired. This job never was completed. It just need to be honed and the rubber cups on the
plunger replaced. The park brake works great, so the drums and shoes are Ok. You can put standard
8 lug rims on this RV, that are not offset. The factory wheels are split rims.
This RV has a large storage bin on the roof, with extra parts in
it. It will be 50 years old
next year. It was built by the Clark equipment Company, the same that makes forklifts, so you know it was overly
engineered to last.
