1977 Argosy 24' Motorhome
This is 24' long, powered by a Chevy 454 engine and rebuilt 3 speed TH400 automatic transmission.
Temporarily removed some of the less necessary
and non-functioning items. Removing the refrigerator, roof top air conditioner, one of the bench seats and some cabinets
gave me the space & weight capacity I needed. The original refrigerator has lost its refrigerant and was too old to repair.
The Argosy runs great. It has almost 110,000 miles on it now and the engine, drive-train, steering & suspension are all well
maintained. The engine A/C compressor & heat exchanger were removed for the recent radiator work, and have not been reinstalled.
They were working when removed and should just need to be reinstalled and recharged.
Minor annoyances; As with all old vehicles, there are some things that you get used to living with.
The Chevy motor has typical minor oil leaks, new valve cover gaskets should help.
The curb side front air spring has a slow leak and usually needs air added before a trip.
The engine air conditioner compressor & heat exchanger are removed, but can be reinstalled.
For the plumbing: The water pump, propane hot water heater, sinks, shower, toilet & holding tanks work fine.
For heat, the propane furnace is working great. The engine heater is also doing well to keep you warm.
The generator is a twin cylinder Onan 4000 watt unit and it works ok, sometimes, if it is cold or has not been run for a while,
it needs a little starting fluid to get it going.
The bedroom has rear twin beds with wrap around windows.
