1982 Airstream 280 Turbo Diesel 28' Motorhome An American icon and one you rarely see. An Airstream Motor Home, yes that is right, a motor home built by Airstream in the traditional Airstream quality and style. Airstream built a few of these in the 80's and now you have the chance to own one of these beauties. I guarantee it is a real head turner as you drive down the highway. People will stop to ask about it wherever you camp. I will be giving the new owner an original magazine advertisement from 1982 which features this motor home. Description: The motor home is all aluminum, riveted together with double wall, heavily insulated construction. It is virtually sound proof and a dream to camp in whether you stop for a night at a truck stop or a month at a campground, your neighbor’s will not be bothering you with their noise. The interior is natural wood paneling. The Airstream styling with surrounding windows gives a wide open feel to the interior. The windows are all insulated glass. There are two large cedar closets with lights inside, twin beds with full custom mattresses, one pillow top, one memory foam. A six drawer dresser and counter. Large utility closet with light. Full bath with shower. Two full length mirrors. Full 2 door three way Dometic refrigerator, food pantry, spice cabinet, two air conditioners. Nutone counter blender with newer motor and switch assembly. Double sinks, fresh water filter, 50 gallon fresh water tank, 50 gallon black water tank, 45 gallon gray water tank. electronic ignition water heater with by-pass, microwave, three burner with igniter stove, kitchen vent fan, electronic command center, fold out dinette table, four 12V receptacles, air horn, remote operated spot light, door bell, full awning, hydraulic leveling jacks, air bag suspension, with automatic rear compressor (replaced 2008). Two coach and a starter battery, (replaced 2008) with over sized battery isolator, bathroom vent fan, along with many more features found only on these quality coaches. PLUS: A new engine which was put in about 15,000 miles ago. Front, rear brakes and steering dampeners replaced about 7,000 miles ago. Chassis has been re-wired and charging system upgraded plus an electronic cruise control was installed. Other improvements include: Electric engine block heater. Kwikee electric double step, laminate floors, custom pleated blinds. Custom oak dash board, new 60 amp power converter with charge wizard, stereo radio disc player wired for XM and Ipod, Rear speakers. Computer stand, replaced window moldings, new bushings and pins in entrance door hinges. Fluorescent bedroom lighting, newer swivel captains and co-captains chairs, reinforced receiver for towing plus updated wiring harness. Fantastic Fan with new easy off screen, Max Air rain vent cover, over sized collapsible entry handle, plus much more. The exterior has been polished and waxed from the roof line down.
