1987 GMC General Truck Conversion Motorhome
This conversion has been our home for 10 years. We love it, but as we are getting on in years, it's a bit much for us to maintain and continue to travel as we'd like to continue to do.
Everything on board continues to work. The engine, transmission and running gear have been well maintained and work. Esthetically, both inside and out, the rig needs some tender loving care.
TRUCK CHASSIS, POWER & DRIVE TRAIN
1987 GMC General Tandem Tractor. (Fiberglass & aluminum body.)
Original chassis rebuilt and stretched in 1997, conversion completed 1999.

Detroit Series 60 DDII diesel engine. 400 H.P.

Road Ranger RT014608LL manual 8 speed transmission with overdrive.
3.70 rear ends with full tandem drive.
Bridgestone tires upfront Jan., 2007, trailer tires from Les Schawb June, 2007.
Nu-Way Air Ride on rear suspension; shop-built air ride on front suspension.
Air leveling system controlled from the dash.
4 Group 32 - 12 v truck batteries installed in February 2015
CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
Body constructed on 2" steel square tubing framework with 14 gauge cold rolled
steel sheeting on the exterior.
Roof constructed of 5/8' pressure treated plywood covered with a one piece
industrial rubber roof.
Insulated with 2 3/4" of spray foam insulation.
All house windows are RV style Hehr sliding, dual pane windows with screens.
All cabinetry was custom built of solid butternut wood by a professional
cabinetmaker.

All electrical wiring was inspected and certified.

WATER & SEWAGE SYSTEMS
All plumbing was installed by a jouneyman plumber.
200 gallon stainless steel fresh water tank complete with 12 volt Par, 40 psi on-
demand water pump.
200 gallon stainless steel sewage tank.
10 gallon Suburban propane/electric water heater.
HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING
Pro-Heat 45,000 BTU diesel fired hot water (anti-freeze) boiler supplying radiant
heat throughout the coach floors, thermostatically controlled.
Glo-Warm 10,000 BTU propane heater.
2 Coleman Mach 15 - 15,000 BTU roof air conditioners.
CAB
Driver & passenger seats have electric controls.
Passenger seat turns around to provide additional seating in living room.
All gauges in view of the driver's seat.
Voyageur rear-view camera & monitor.
Air ride leveling control within reach of driver's seat.
