1969 Ultra Van 22' Class A Motorhome
We bought the UV about in San Antonio about three years ago. Took it from Austin to Seattle and back with some local trips. Runs 60mph comfortably in Texas/midwest/coastal terrain. Ran 40-45mph over and through the Rocky Mountain Ranges (altitude, steep grades, winding roads). Gets 18-22mpg.
We used it more like a camper- camp toilet, camp stove, solar bag shower, bucket sinks. I believe it was well restored in the '80s in San Diego.
The only vin/serial# is 401.
Drives good. Camps good. No structural damage. Minimal non-structural corrosion, some patched. Aircraft paint job probably 30 years old, looks ok-good.
Tanks (Gas/Water) - It has four tanks, gas and three water. 30 gallon gas tank is fine, but has leaked out of a vent when topped off. I have not used used or tested the water tanks, nor did the previous owner. The black water one has a hole in it and looks like they were all covered over in fiberglass at one point.
Propane - The system is there, unused when I bought it. Pressure test failed and I ditched the propane tank. Lines are in the walls.
Electric - 12v and 110v work. No coach battery, nor have I tested that system. The 12V system has great wiring and diagrams. Most of the dash gauges don't work, but 4-5 important ones do (gas, rpm, head temp, oil pressure, ?). Exterior lights/blinkers/brake/head work (upper running lights don't). UV original tail lights work (custom taillight setup in the middle disabled).
HVAC - we used a window unit in a vented cabinet and a propane or electric portable heater. Engine heater to coach works.
Engine - 110hp, dual carbs, runs as expected. Rebuilt head/piston from valve seat jump last year, looked good and strong to the crankshaft. I have replaced starter and alternator and some fuel lines. Tuned/replaced/cleaned fluids, cap/rotor, plugs, wires, etc...
Trans - 2 speed auto. strong, clean fluid, doesn't leak. Replaced both axles u-joints last year.
Suspension - old springs & shocks work. Greased up all the joints and they were ok. wheels - tires should probably be replaced, have tread and look okay but they're old. Bearings all the way around last year. Aluminum 14" rims.
Brakes - drums/shoes ok (newly leaking slave cylinder on right rear, will repair). Single master cylinder and brake lines good.
Interior - original front buckets. board made to turn it into single bed. couch (futon cushion with throw pillows). kitchen and overhead cabinets. kitchen counter (no sink). RV/stove oven was removed for computer workstation/bar like seat. Bathroom with solar bag/gravity water with sink and camp toilet. We have the original bath door, but removed it. Curtains and upholstery look good but old/torn in places. Metal mini blinds work. Windows/screens good.
