1973 Georgie Boy Motor Home
Engine is a MoPar (Chrysler/Dodge) 360 cid V8.
Transmission is a MoPar TorqueFlite 727.
Suspension is leaf spring and massive.
Frame and floor are excellent.
Body is aluminium over timber frame.
Jobs that I have done on the motorhome:
- New transmission filter and sump gasket
- New fuel filter
- Reconditioned starter motor
What's wrong / The Bad Points
- I don't guarantee this is an exhaustive list, especially since the unit is 34 years old.
- I have, however, done my best to list the negatives as they occur to me.
- Engine runs well, but sounds blat-blat due to exahaust manifold leaks
- 2 points of rot shown in accompanying images; new timber included with motorhome
- Some small cracks evident in tyre sidewalls, but tyres don't lose air
- Rear left window has a crack; and I think the rear window also does too
- Starter solenoid sometimes fails; vehicle can be started by bridging a screwdriver across the solenoid terminals
- Shower head securing peg snapped (meaning that the shower head can't be hung up)
- Some of the resealing of aluminium panels is a little thick/sloppy
- Dashboard A/C does not work
The Good Points
- Roof mounted A/C blows cold
- Onan 4.0 kW generator, with 2-way switches, runs great
- Solar panel (roof) for trickle charging battery
- 6 berth
- 55,033 miles only
- just completed a 1,330 mile road trip from Naples Florida, to my place in NE Indiana.
- Engine does not burn/use any oil
- Main door and screen door
- Plenty of propane in the tank for heater & cooker
- 6 wheeler
