1970 Airstream Trailer-Motorhome Custom Conversion Built on a 1970 Dodge Truck Chassis RESTORATION PROJECT "Now before you Airstream experts out there start shaking your heads; I was told by a very helpful and longtime Airstream employee that in the early '70's there was a company (whose name to me is unknown) buying Airstream travel trailers and modifying them to fit a Dodge truck chassis. I have found one of those rare conversions! The coach is powered by a Dodge 413 cubic inch V8 with an automatic transmission. It starts and drives pretty well, considering it's age. The tires are old and weather cracked but are holding air. However, I would not recomment a road trip without having it thoroughly checked out As you have probably allready guessed, the appliances, with the exception of the airconditioner are old and outdated. A new rooftop airconditioner was recently installed. The in-dash unit works well also." Location: Duncanville, TX 75137 Archived 11/14/05 |
